Level 2 · The Challenge

When growth outruns the spreadsheet

At the end of 2023, all of Maniko's analysis, reporting and planning lived in Y42 and Google Sheets.

One tool for everything

Sheets was the database, the analysis layer and the dashboard. Every question meant another tab.

A setup at its limit

The system stopped scaling as the business grew. Refreshes broke and trust suffered.

Two worlds of revenue

The online shop and the drugstore business reported in separate silos. Nobody saw the whole brand.

Level 3 · The Stack Evolution

One stack, three eras

Gemma rebuilt Maniko's data platform step by step.

Build the three eras in order and watch the stack grow.

Era 01 · End of 2023

The Spreadsheet Era

Y42 pipelines feed Google Sheets. Analysis, reporting and planning all live in spreadsheets.

Era 02 · The Rebuild

The Modern Data Stack

Fivetran and Airflow load every source into BigQuery. dbt models the data, Tableau reports it.

Era 03 · Today

The AI-First Stack

Reporting moves from Tableau to Lightdash, and AI agents like an AI PR reviewer join the team.

Level 4 · The Daily P&L

Yesterday's profit, every morning

On top of the stack, Gemma built a daily profit & loss statement. It covers the online shop and the retail shelves at dm and Rossmann, down to EBITDA.

The Outcome
Enabling Maniko to see yesterday's revenue and profit every morning, instead of waiting for the year-end accounts.
Online + RetailDown to EBITDARefreshed daily
Level 5 · The Results

A data function that keeps up with the brand

From a spreadsheet system at its limit to an AI-first stack that answers questions the day they come up.

Scales with growth

New sources plug straight into the stack, so the platform grows with the brand instead of spawning new spreadsheet tabs.

Self-service insights

Enabling faster decisions through self-service dashboards in Lightdash, so the team no longer waits on an analyst for every question.

One source of truth

Bringing online and drugstore retail together in a single model, for one consistent picture of the whole business.

Profit visible daily

Turning profitability from a year-end surprise into an everyday management tool, visible every morning.
